A. When buying a Cyrix-based system, you may have to be more informed than the vendor to make sure you're getting the right configuration and setup. Many Cyrix vendors have just recently started reselling Cyrix processors as a result of increased customer demand and assume that they can plug in a Cyrix instead of a Intel processor into a motherboard, change a few jumpers, and everything will work great. This is not necessarily correct. All motherboards are definitely not equal.
Cyrix systems are more demanding of motherboards than their Intel counterparts. Just because a board works with an Intel chip doesn't mean it will work with a Cyrix chip. That is why you should not buy a motherboard that is not on THE LIST.

Check out my favorite search engine www.altavista.com to scour the web or www.dejanews.com to search usenet archives for additional Cyrix tidbits. Dejanews also allows you to gain access to newsgroups through a browser that your ISP may not carry. Dejanews is a terrific tool.
