I believe strongly in
providing support vehicles that allow you to help yourselves. That is why I built or
helped organize the following support options:
Alternative CPU Message Board
Alternative CPU Mailing List
Alternative
CPU Newsgroups
Alternative
CPU Chat Room
Give all of these support tools a try! I think
that you will find them to be extremely useful and effective. They efficiently help
diagnose problems and provide quick answers to the most difficult questions.
Please contact me
with support questions as a last resort and I will try to assist you.
The Alternative CPU Message
Board
The AlternativeCPU Message Board is a
Web-based bulletin board service (BBS) that you access through a browser. It
utilizes the most effective BBS engine on the Internet today. Please check out the
message board, post or answer a question and others will follow.
The Alternative CPU Mailing
List
The purpose of the Alternative CPU mailing list is to provide a
forum for the discussion of non-Intel Socket-7 microprocessors. This forum is a
terrific way to share information, post questions, and solve problems.
The Alternative CPU mailing list is a moderated list. This list is
owned and administrated by John Schexnayder. Thanks go to John for providing the resource.
This list not an extension of AlternativeCPU.com.
I watch the list and periodically answer a few questions, but I
prefer to spend the majority of my limited time working on the site.
This list is a tremendous support resource. There are a lot of very
knowledgeable people who actively participate. Over 700 minds are always better than
one. Enjoy!

The Alternative CPU Newsgroups
Thanks to folks at RLR, we can all welcome 16 newsgroups
that they have set up on a private news server as the latest resource available to the
alternative CPU community. The following instructions came from Chris Reeves at RLR and
describe how to access the news server.
Use any news software (free agent seems to work very well) in the
"server" field, enter news.rlrnews.com in the "mail" field, enter your
local mail server. That's all it takes. This works in any news reader that I've tested.
There has been some problems with the news reader under Netscape 2.02 and before, but
after 3.0, there haven't been any reported troubles.
Individuals can also email us directly about how to get involved. ts@rlrnews.com.
Here are the names of the current newsgroups:
cx686.amdk6.and.others
cx686.chat
cx686.faq
cx686.flamewars
cx686.games
cx686.linux
cx686.m2.mboard
cx686.marketplace
cx686.mboard
cx686.misc
cx686.os2
cx686.overclocking
cx686.utilities
cx686.win95
cx686.windows95
cx686.windowsnt
The newsgroups get a fair amount of traffic. Send the folks at RLR
an email and thank them for making this resource
available.
The Alternative CPU Chat Room
A live forum for the support and discussion of alternative
processors all day and all night. A Java-capable browser is required to access the Alternative CPU Chat Room. You can catch me here late in the
evenings answering questions. |
