All,

I'm going mobile!  I've finally decided to purchase an Alternative CPU based notebook computer.   I've been wanting one for a very long time and current prices are extremely attractive.  Compaq is offering a some very nice K6 and MediaGX based notebooks.

In an effort to raise funds,  I've reluctantly decided to sell more hardware from my benchmarking lab and part with one of my thoroughbred benchmarking machines.  This machine is a screamer and run applications so fast it will bring tears to your eyes.

First off, let me say that I love this PC and I would hold on to it if I could afford it.  This machine has faithfully served and is in perfect working order.  I use it as a file and print server when not performing benchmarks.   This machine has been thoroughly tested, burned in, and all parts are all in perfect working condition.

Here is what the system is made of:

Motherboard
Soyo SY-5EHM - Super Socket-7 mainboard.   100MHz capable and Intel MMX, Cyrix/IBM 6x86MX, K6, and K6-2 Ready

  • Baby AT form factor
  • 1 x 32 bit AGP slot
3 x 32 bit Bus Mastering PCI slots
3 x 16 bit ISA slots (One shareable PCI/ISA slot)
  • VIA MVP3 Super Socket-7 AGP chipset
  • 1MB Pipeline Burst SRAM L2 cache
  • Supports 100MHz host bus
  • 2 x 168 pin DIMM memory slots
    2 x 72 pin SIMM memory slots

    Supports 4/8/16/32/64MB 72 pin modules

  • Smart detect CPU voltage
  • PC97, ACPI, Ultra DMA/33
  • Switching voltage regulator
  • Multi-boot support
  • DMI (Desktop Management Interface) utility
  • Supports AMD K6 write allocation and Cyrix/IBM MMX Linear burst

Fabulous Micron screwless desktop case.  This is one of the best cases that I have ever used.  It is extremely easy to get in and out of.  It includes space for two harddrives and has three full height bays.  Two are filled by the floppy and CD-ROM. One is free.

Modem
3COM US Robotics 28.8Kbs Internal Fax/Data Modem

Pioneer 32X front-loading IDE CD-ROM

Other Components
Teac 3.5 inch floppy disk drive
