From the description of the upcoming re-architected graphics driver, it sounds like the focus is on reducing CPU overhead with future GPUs in mind. As such, is the elimination of the abstraction layer between the OS and hardware expected to yield much GPU performance increase for Ivy Bridge? I'm guessing this re-architecting won't take place for older IGPs like Sandy Bridge and Arrandale? Given the importance of the corporate market to IGPs, will even the vulnerable Windows XP also be getting a redesigned driver? Hopefully Intel has been beefing up their driver team to meet all the OS/hardware combinations they are going to target.
