Keep in mind you are comparing the slowest clocked, 6 core variant of POWER7 to basically what will be the highest clocked Nehalem-EX (well, an estimate with 2x 4 core).

A top bin 8 core POWER7 should hammer the top 8 core Nehalem, per socket and per core.

Bottom bin POWER6 gets very close to 2.93GHz Nehalem, per core. So POWER7 should be pretty safe per-socket in TPC-C too.
