Or, to be more explicit: if your statement were true, it would cut many ways.
Additionally, the old line of reasoning: "who disagrees with me must be incompetent", never had anything to do with reasoning at all, ever. That always was pure rhetorics. Attack the points, not the people. This should be particularly easy especially if your opponents are incompetent, and thus leave huge openings for scientific counter points.
