Low ILP and unpredictable branches and unpredictable cache misses
are characteristic of a lot of very important workloads. And having lots
of threads only works for some of them (which is why those SPARCs
with hundreds of slow threads are not dominating the server market
in spite of their good efficiency, though they're good in some niches).
