The SIMD is 16 wide, the VLIW is 4 wide and the scalars are 4 Bytes wide, so every operation is applied to 256 Bytes ideally. Do all of these have to be together in one memory area, or only the 4 Byte (scalar word) and the 16 SIMD words? That would allow the dispatcher/scheduler to put them together as needed. Or is nothing like that happening, the data must be "shaped" on the CPU and then handed to the GPU as the compiler predetermined?
is that:
(((4 Byte)4 VLIW)16 SIMD) or (((4Byte)16 SIMD)4 VLIW) ?
I think it might be the later, that would be more flexible.

What I don't understand is the "texture look-up". If the usual case is a computation on a (post-render) pixel, then the texture data that belongs to that pixel should be highly irregular. two adjoining pixels might be made up from many non sequentially adjoining texels. for every pixel I would have to look into multiple textures and within those textures I would have to look at many texels depending on distance and angle. I don't see how this is possible with all the restrictions.
