It depends.
"Horizontal" a.k.a. "shrink-wrapped" software market has good visibility, yes. But in Great Scheme of Things it is not too important. Overwhelming majority of software companies in the world and even greater majority of software developers don't do "shrink-wrapped" at all, or, at least, it's not considered meaningful source of income.

Selling solution or preparing them in house is how most developers in this world earn their bread and, hopefully, butter. One just specify NVidia GPU as a part of solution. It solves the problem of absence of support on AMD and Intel GPUs very well :-)

Not being able to address 2/3rd of the horizontal market that you didn't address anyway is at worst a minor annoyance.
