Very insightful review as usual, thanks.

One comment: you say that Intel's goal was a 2X performance increase over Gen 6. But every preview so far has shown HD 4000 performance to be substantially beneath this, closer to 20-60% typically. Likewise, the performance has been shown to still consistently lag high end Llano. I assumed that your comment about it being the highest performance IGP at launch meant that it outperforms Llano. Your estimate of Llano beating HD3000 by 30 to 100% seems conservative, reviews seem to show it routinely pushing past the 100% point.

With everything you've revealed about Gen 7 (particularly the changed TMU hierarchy, which was an open question for me) it would make sense that it'd deliver ~2x performance. Do you have any ideas what possible performance degradations could be? Could it be driver related? I assume that the co-issuing is still limited to separate threads, so the drivers wouldn't have additional scheduling requirements, but if the drivers are heavily favoring one execution port in general it'd greatly inhibit performance.

There have also been some die shot comparisons which suggest that earlier IB engineering samples had less die area dedicated to the IGP than current ones. Do you know anything about this, and do you think this could have some bearing on performance? A recent set of tests show somewhat higher performance than could have been expected from the old tests.
