OK, we're agreeing then :-) I might add only one thing: if you look at the vast majority of applications implemented using managed languages you're probably looking almost entirely at business-side applications, sometimes only deployed behind closed doors. The general quality of these applications is abysmally low (with some exceptions obviously) and for those kind of workloads having almost-free collection of temporary objects is a real boon (together with a swat of other optimizations that are enabled by the managed nature of the language).
