I think you have missed my point, yours was not a counter example as it was NOT different, it was a more expensive and over the top version of the status quo, the workflow for the Hobbit is very different, and a lot of existing production houses are afraid of such changes..

Agreed, the reason for my example was to show how some 'high tech change' (laser LP players) is not preceived as change by such crazies, as it gives them an excuse to continue to like their old/defunct technologies..

In what way? From what I can tell a lot of people are saying 'It looks different, therefore there must be a problem with the tech, but I have no idea what'. I am saying 'I have a fair bit of experience with the tech and know people with a lot, it looks different to me, and I see no technical reason why it should, so therefore it must be intentional'. the two are completely compatible except when the first comes from someone who does know what technical issue causes a 'problem'. Otherwise it is like blaming 'technical issues' for the intentional look of a black and white modern film.
