Oh, for crying out load, would you fix this stupid thing to make it a tiny bit harder to double post

When you hit "post", you get back a screen that looks just like a preview screen, but it's really the view of the posted message, primed for a reply. If you then hit post again, you get a message just quoting the prior one, with no additional text. Far too easy.

You might consider:

1. always run through the preview screen (IOW, eliminate the "post" button) (many sites)
2. insist that the new message have some change from what you put in the edit box originally (that might be a good idea in any event, and in combination with one of the other ideas) (many sites)
3. require some typing in the edit box (perhaps refuse to turn on the "post/preview" button until a keystroke happens in the edit box) (many sites)
4. toss users to someplace other than the view message screen (the old forum tossed users back to the main forum list after a post) (old RWT, airliners.net, many others)
5. toss up a modal "message posted" dialog box over the new view that the user has to hit OK to clear after completing a post, or just a "message posts, continue" modal box after the post
6. make quoting an explicit action, and the refuse to allow a post of a empty message (airliners.net)
7. require something special if you want to reply to a message you just posted (perhaps a button to unprotect the edit area, or a checkbox to set if you actually wanted to do that)
8. require a new captcha for each post (many sites)
9. more radically, you could make the edit mode distinct from the view mode (Wikipedia)

I'd suggesting something like #2 or #3, or perhaps #5 as a Q&D option.
