I guess, I was right about the DRAM on package, I wasn't right about the size of it though. It looks like, there will be 8 or 16GB of it instead of my initial guess of 1 GB (I thought of Crystalwell which would be about 8x 100GBps) it looks like they will choose MCDRAM and some lower bandwidth - higher-density parts. I'm not very experienced in this field from the technical and manufacturing/ decission-making point of view.

The Silvermont core was a suprize, I thought, it will be a more custom design than "just" adding 3 threads, 2 x 512 SIMD EU, the 6x DDR4 controller... :-D

Might the Fabric be the Silicon Photonics? Looks like even multimode optics is a much better option, if you want to connect many chips in many racks to achieve ultimately the low single-digit Exascale performance without talking about excessive power use.
I mean cca. 200W per card/chip + about 200W in overhead, RAM, PSU inefficiency, storage, InterConnect, cooling. So about 400W per 3TFLOP DP. Exa = 1,000,000 Tera
1,000,000 / 3 (after rounding up) = 333340 cards would be needed, to achieve that. That isn't that unrealistic, it would be "just" ~4,2 times as many components, as Tianhe-2 has (16,000 nodes x 2 (IB CPU) x 3 (KC Xeon Phi)). That beeing said, it will probably be possible, to stack 4 KL sockets on a 1U board. That would give us 12TFLOP x 42 = 504 TFLOP per Rack and it would mean, that we would need about 2000 racks and about 140MW of power to run the computer and the cooling. In China, it could be possible to assemble something like that.
If we aim for 100 PFLOP, then it would of course be much more realistic, with 14MW power and 33334 Xeon Phi (just saing, that is 2x the performance of Tianhe-2).
