Looks like that was not necessary. The server is holding up just fine!! No outages yet (that I know of), and response time seems very good... :-).

Well, the log is already almost 10 times as large as our most active day during the last 6 months. I haven't downloaded/analysed it yet, but it looks to be in excess of 120K pages in just under 6 hours.

Unfortunately, because of the way some of the links get generated, it is impossible to tell exactly how many of each individual page was read. One link uses a URL variable and another uses a Form variable - which doesn't show up in the logs (if you use the drop down box).

Generally, however, you can see the numbers drop pretty dramatically after the first two pages on *any* article... though many may be using the drop down box to jump to the last page to read the ending before deciding whether to read the rest of it (gee, and they miss all the pretty pictures that way!). [evil grin].
