What marketing?
I am claiming that KNL is manycore because KNL fits the manycore definition and is aimed to compete against GPGPUs.
Of course, there is different gradation for manycores just like there is for multicores as well. E.g. I would consider a Haswell Xeon more multicore than a Piledriver Opteron.
