As of 2:42am, CST, my first article, Back to the Basics - Laying the Foundations is now up. It defines and discusses various aspects of an Instruction Set Architecture, including the operational model, addressing, displacement and several other features. It is the first in a multi-part series meant to provide the background knowledge about computer architecture to a casual reader.

Enjoy,
