TSMC staying on roadmap

According to EETimes, TSMC has taped out their first N7+ design that will use EUV in mass production next year, and is on track to begin risk production of 5nm with a full EUV stack next April, for mass production in 2020.

Even if Intel catches up to TSMC's 7nm (assuming they can deliver their 10nm next year like they claim) it won't last long, as TSMC will quickly leap past them to 5nm. TSMC claims N5 will deliver 1.8 to 1.86x area reduction, though it wasn't clear from the article whether that was compared to today's 7nm N7 process or next year's N7+.
