ARMv8.3 PAC made it from announcement to Apple HW in two years. So ONE theory could be the ARM mac should be expected ~2020. Of course

- If Apple specifically pushed for this, they could have everything lined up to slide it into HW even for next year. (Apple seems the likeliest source, though it's presumably also of interest to MS --- not that they can do anything till QC get off their asses --- and maybe to the ARM server crowd)

- the very first round of ARM macs (the ones targeting only developers, not consumers) could presumably ship without this, at some performance cost.

I've long suggested ~2020 as about right for the ARM macs, and this seems to me evidence confirming that.
