Zen2 socket compatible

So according to anandtech https://www.anandtech.com/show/13547/amd-next-horizon-live-blog-starts-9am-pt-5pm-utc Zen2 is socket compatible. Clearly that means no extra PCIe lanes.

Some articles are suggesting that PCIe will still be handled by the modules/chiplets but then what is the block marked as I/O on the controller? Can't be extra lanes because of the above.

The talk about the "chiplets" is curious, I presume that they aren't creating new dies for the chiplets, so just a next gen Ryzen with the memory controllers fused and if the above is inaccurate and the controller is doing I/O then also the PCIe lanes. Seems like a lot of dark silicon if it's true.

Anyway, curious to be bringing back the northbridge but I suppose flares will be back in a year or two.
