Let me give a vote FOR the display as is. It takes a little effort to parse exactly what's being displayed, but I agree that it's not clear what a better alternative might be.

On the more technical side, what's the current state of the art of phase change materials for smoothing out thermals? Clearly all these SoCs have the property that they can run fast in short bursts, but are forced to throttle as temperature rises. Are there practical phase change materials (eg cheap enough, non-toxic, low enough volume) that could absorb the excess heat generated enough to make a substantial difference in the length of the fast phase? eg extend it from (?30 seconds? to ?5 minutes?)

(For now let's limit ourselves to the question of whether this can be done. Even if it can be done, I'm not SURE it's of practical value -- are there important use cases that call for maximum performance over these sorts of time spans? But right now I'm simply curious as to what the state of the art is in thermal inertia.)
