The next seven Meltdown and Spectre variants have been published:

The research community is now more methodical about it. They have enumerated the various protection domains, speculation flavours, and caches. At each intersection of those grid lines is a potential vulnerability to be investigated.

The parameter space has not yet been exhaustively searched.

(IMHO it is a mistake to focus solely on caches as an exfiltration channel. But admittedly cache timing is the highest bandwidth, highest statistical reliability, and most widely available channel. But other adaptive ("self learning") methods are currently the fashion. Those, too, have internal state which strongly correlates with the information they have encountered before.)
