Overlaid skewed associativity

Room: Moderated Discussions
I just posted a question and answer on the Computer Science Stack Exchange about overlaid skewed associaitivity. I suspect that at least a few readers here would be interested in the content.

Since Stack Exchange is not meant for discussions, this might be a good place for commenting on the ideas. I think supporting variable cache block alignment might be the most practical of the ideas (at least for instruction caches), but some of the other thoughts might be interesting to others.

(I will be posting tens of answers on CS.SE today and tomorrow in the hope of getting at least one day of 200+ reputation gain to get the Mortarboard badge. Most of these are answers to basic computer architecture questions and not likely of much interest to readers here, but some might benefit from a little editorial attention from knowledgeable readers.)
