On package stacked memory

Hello gentlemen,

What will you think of AMD EPYC with on package memory?

HBM2 stacks are now getting to 24 gigs per stack. They can sacrifice 4 CPU chiplets and get enough memory and bandwidth to cover almost all practical use cases.

Samsung claims that they can now put proper HBM2 on an organic substrate now without performance downgrading. The amount of layers available on the substrate should be enough for routing memory, I think.

What do you think?
