A couple of people I have spoken to would like run iOS Apps and feel as this is a transition there is no point getting Intel based Macs.
They intend to get ARM based Macs and are completely unfazed by all the perceived issues people here have with theoretically bad performance (it might be bad for compiling C++ but they have no interest in that).
It's possible the performance will be terrible compared to what they have now and they will regret it, but I doubt it.
For most Mac users it will be fine, the distinction almost entirely irrelevant and invisible.
