I do not understand what you dislike about this.

The target of those benchmarks was precisely to not run the CPUs at their stock configuration, but in a configuration where everything external to the cores was identical, including the memory clock frequencies.

Because the benchmark had to run on 1800X, so a compatible configuration was chosen, the configuration settings for the other CPUs corresponded most frequently to an underclocking, not to an overclocking.

These benchmarks offers some information about the differences in microarchitecture that is easier to interpret than when all the external factors are different.

Like any other benchmarks, they do not offer complete information. For more complete information, instead of running at fixed CPU clock frequencies, memory clock frequencies and cooling efficiencies, one would have to vary all those is some large ranges. It would have been even more informative, but it would have been immensely more time consuming to do.

Here, at least, we have an additional data point, which you can compare if you want with the benchmark results at stock settings, from other reviews.

However, if you would claim that the benchmarks at stock settings are the only benchmarks that need to be done, then you would be wrong, because without varying the configuration settings you cannot determine the separate contributions of various things to the CPU performance.
