Latency to geosynchronous satellites is inherently bad because of how far away they are; 36 million meters / 300 million meters per second = 120 milliseconds each way just from the speed of light delay. This objection does not apply to Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit because they are so much closer, and tests have already demonstrated their latency as being competitive with consumer grade internet.
