I agree with you about the monitor with only one Type-C input. I always prefer monitors with more kinds of inputs, as I cannot predict what I might want to connect some time.

For either DisplayPort or HDMI monitor inputs, there are hundreds of adapters from most possible video sources.

For the reverse direction, i.e. DisplayPort source to Type-C input, it is harder to find adapters, but they still exist, e.g. Delock 63928:

A computer with DisplayPort can be connected to the monitor with this adapter, while a computer with Thunderbolt that does not support USB Alternate Mode, must cascade 2 adapters, Thunderbolt to DisplayPort, then DisplayPort to USB Type-C.


On the other hand, as an output at the computer, as single HDMI output is the worst, as you can convert it easily only to DVI, unlike a DisplayPort output, which can be converted in anything else.
