Not sure what is a MIS people, but if there were a good one on earth, he might be able to use the "Hard Post Package Repair Mode" (for instance page 62 of https://www.micron.com/-/media/client/global/documents/products/data-sheet/dram/ddr4/8gb_ddr4_sdram.pdf ) (DDR4+ only) to help repair the bit error without opening the box (and without changing the DIMM)...
Someone will probably say that there is no more space in the 32 Gbytes EFI BIOS to do such thing, when the initial PC BIOS was fitting in 96 Kbytes. The enjoyment of closed source software.
