Scaling beyond saturation

Regardless of physical limits in the material universe, there are indications that informational scaling is possible beyond any upper bound.

A particularly nice example of the latter is the longest running evolution experiment. If you don't want to spend all the 17 minutes on youtube, the relevant insight starts at minute 14:00.

In other words, after we've run into the physical limit of whatever material substrate we use for our computing machinery, we can still scale with ever more, ever better ideas.

The outlook isn't entirely rosy, though, because those informational improvements scale more like log(time). So the lifetime of the universe does ultimately set a hard limit.
