I agree in most, but not with "paranoid" part.
If you have valuable secret, don't put in on hardware shared with untrusted user. I see nothing paranoid about it. IMHO, doing opposite is delusional.
But then again, I firmly believe that that running antivirii software on the hardware that holds valuable secrets is even more delusional than sharing it with untrusted users.
However most people do exactly that.
