Had it been an issue with a specific feature they could have turned it off and sold the dies at a discount to someone who didn't care about that feature. As it is they have probably thrown away the manufacturing run because the errata meant they weren't useful to anyone.
I'm sure exactly what it was will come out eventually but for now few enough people outside Intel know that describing is is risky which is undoubtedly why Groo has not written an article on it yet.
