Opterons with more cache

How would more L2 cache (2MB, 4MB) for single and dual core Opterons affect their performance?

As we know from currently available A64's, a halved L2 causes an average performance hit of 3-5% for desktop applications.

But I think, server apps and the SPEC suite are more sensitive to the amount of available cache. So, how would doubling and quadrupling the cache affect performance then?

Could that be another reason for a lower L2 clock frequency as mentioned by Jerry Moench?
