I'm glad they were appreciated.

We were free to choose any benchmarks we desired. I chose Cinebench and POV-Ray since they are well-known and MP-aware; I was disappointed with exactly how scalable they were though. The other benchmarks were chosen because they were scalable server benchmarks (which are hard to come by). The SunGard one is an application benchmark, so that sort of speaks for itself. Some of the benchmarks were provided (I noted those), and several were chosen from relatively available benchmarks.

SPECjbb2005 is definitely not part of any package. Everyone here should know that SPEC is truly independent, and that Intel cannot simply just grab a bunch of licenses for folks. RWT has its own license for SPECjbb2005 (and SPEC CPU, but I didn't have time to monkey with compilers).

There really is a big problem for reviewers b/c there are so few scalable server benchmarks. Getting a speedup from 2 CPUs is not that hard to do (i.e. it can be kludged), getting a speedup from 4 or more is REALLY tricky when you want to be able to easily reproduce the results.

For example, TPC-C or SAP2D is a very interesting and important benchmark. Everyone looks at those numbers, and they are extremely scalable. However, no website has $1M in disks lying around to bother doing a TPC-C run, nor do most of them have the $10,000 a license costs.

Like I said, I'm looking for good scalable benchmarks, so if you have 'em, let me know : )
