Clearly, our opinions about exactly who is the asshole here differ as much as they do in other areas.

1. I *always* take responsibility for my actions. Perhaps you're under the mistaken impression that I was suggesting that your own digression justified my own: in fact, I feel free (and will continue to feel free) to digress whenever I feel it appropriate, and was only pointing out to David that if this bothered him there was someone ahead of me in line to take to task.

2. I usually don't give a shit about setting an example (at least when dealing with people old enough to be considered responsible for their own behavior), and certainly not at the expense of calling things precisely as I see them.

Then (assuming that in fact they were not wholly products of your own imagination to the degree that the current one was) *those* are where you should have taken up the issue, not here.

Endlessly repeating a line of crap in the hope that it will eventually stick may be the style these days (the current administration comes to mind), but it doesn't make it smell one whit better.

...

Still having reading comprehension difficulties, I see. My statement was that I felt it would be the right thing to do, not that doing it would come easily (if at all).

You and Bush are not much
>different, excepting from who you don't like, eh?

Yet another question which you presume to answer yourself, and once again incorrectly: you might consider learning another way to phrase your idiocy, since repetition really doesn't help it (it could at least be more interesting, even if the actual content continued to disappoint).

The use of force by individuals *as a last resort* (and I did explicitly note that other less drastic options were far preferable) to *stop* illegal mass-murder on an international scale is rather different from the *elective* use of a nation's military to commit such mass murder and other associated destruction when such extremes are not at all necessary. Among other differences, individuals do not have the range of options available to them that nations do, and must work with what they have.

"Whatever it takes" was indeed a Bushism, but of course (as usual) misapplied in that his chosen approach was far *more* drastic than accomplishing his stated ends would have taken (and, unlike individuals, he *did* have a full range of options available). The situation in some ways parallels (though on a radically different scale) the difference between the actions an individual may justifiably take to halt a murder in the process of being committed and the actions the police may take to prevent a suspected crime which is not yet in actual progress.
