Ladies and Gentlemen,

David Wang has finished his coverage of IEDM 2005, which took place in December of this year. IEDM tends to focus on semiconductor research and development issues, featuring presentations from many of our favorite "Real Men". While David was unable to attend all 240 technical sessions, he certainly covered some of the most interesting topics.

David's article focuses on both technical and economic difficulties with silicon scaling and leakage, high-K gates and metal electrodes, IBM and Intel's respective 65nm processes and MRAM, along with several other research areas. For those who are into lots of hard numbers, he also includes a chart which compares some of the important characteristics of 13 different processes.
