I am sure that is the reality of the situation. IBM already has x86 and Power chipsets. Sometimes having a more focused and narrow product line is important to get things done quick.
Spreading yourself too thin can ultimately hurt long term as nothing gets the full attention it deserves. It isnt really an issue with resources but an issue with the right resources. Obviously IBM is not going to cut Power chipsets.
