I think it's more realistic that AMD is falling behind and has decided to spend resources in other areas. I sincerely doubt there is a malicious effort involved.
I think the underlying issue is that AMD is a resource constrained company. It's vastly more important for the public Barcelona documentation to be accurate than for the older K8. Realistically, AMD can communicate with their K8 partners in private about errata and keep everyone happy. However, for Barcelona, they really need to have a 'complete' product including errata lists, modifications for Code Analyst, etc. to ensure that any new customers get a good feeling about the product.
It's all a question of where to spend your time and money, rather than hiding anything.
