I think you are looking at things from a very cynical point of view. The fact is, as others have pointed out, that errata have *always* existed - yet you just discovered (were 'amazed') at how many there are in Core2. This seems to indicate that despite the fact that such bugs have existed in every processor you have ever owned, you weren't affected and were not even aware. The same can be said for almost every other user.

To put it another way, if the auto industry were as careful in their testing and reporting, I think you would be *really* amazed. I've owned a Toyota that had a 'bug' where the head gasket blows on a regular basis (certain '91 thtu '95 engines). It took Toyota about 7 years to admit the problem and offer a solution. That solution was to do a free head gasket repair...once. Yipee!

The same can likely be said of most other industries. The real point is that people are blissfully unaware of all the 'bugs' in the products they use until they either encounter it, or someone tells them. Then they are annoyed/incensed/pissed off/whatever, and just can't believe that a company would sell such junk, and/or not tell anyone.

It has nothing to do with the pace of change. It has everything to do with human nature (both on the manufacturing side, and the user side).

Regards,
Dean
