You can suggest whatever you like. I don't care for you taking the high horse approach here. Anybody can read the thread for themselves and see you elevated it.

I'll suggest again that you grow some thicker skin. If somebody resorts to insults or "oh you offended me woe is me" drama when they are on the losing side of an argument or when they haven't even contributed anything to the argument, it looks pathetic and stupid, I agree. The odd jab or "you're an idiot" together with otherwise thoughtful content is pretty much par for the course I'm afraid.

OK, I didn't really realise you'd presented that as "content". "Some people here have...". Doesn't sound like your own content.

If you can't see that xattrs are less portable than long file names or filesystem links which have been around for decades... You know directories aren't portable to some systems either. But portability isn't a black and white issue. Nor can you implement a reasonable unix clone without having long file names and links, so even if you disagree with those features, their presence is not an argument to add similar features with similar (or not) downsides.

They are useful as a general area for storing kernel metadata. And they do already exist in Linux.

They are not particularly useful for application level stuff. The argument is to dissuade people from blindly thinking xattrs will solve their problems.

Just end it with all this waffling then. Seriously, I didn't read any of the above because it is rubbish and a waste of my time. If you have hidden some "content" in there, please repost it by itself. I reply to you because you did raise a technical issue. In future I will reply but cut out and not quote the rest of the nonsense (so you might as well not write it in the first place).

All I care about is that nobody has been able to answer even a single one of the simple questions I ask.
