Fujitsu-Siemens PRIMERGY RX300 S5, 2S/8C/16T, Intel Xeon X5570, 2.93GHz, 96 GB, 366 HDs, Ws2008 EE, SQL Server 2008 EE - 800.00 tpsE @343.91 $/tpsE
IBM System x3650 M2, 2S/8C/16T, Intel Xeon X5570, 2.93GHz, 96 GB, 450 HDs, Ws2008 EE, SQL Server 2008 EE - 798.00 tpsE @378.63 $/tpsE

For comparison, much more expensive 4S machines:
IBM System x3850 M2, 4S/24C/24T, Intel Xeon X7460, 2.66 GHz, 128 GB, 400 HDs - 729.65 tpsE @457.27 $/tpsE
Fujitsu-Siemens PRIMERGY RX600 S4, 4S/24C/24T, Intel Xeon X7460, 2.66 GHz, 128 GB, 192 HDs - 721.40 tpsE @459.71 $/tpsE
Dell PowerEdge R905, 4S/16C/16T, AMD Opteron 8384, 2.7 GHz, 64 GB, 288 HDs, Ws2008 EE, SQL Server 2008 EE - 635.43 tpsE @403.87 $/tpsE

And 2S:
Fujitsu-Siemens PRIMERGY TX300 S4, 2S/8C/8T, Intel Xeon X5460, 3.16 GHz, 64 GB, 188 HDs, Ws2008 EE, SQL Server 2008 EE - 317.45 tpsE @523.49 $/tpsE

So, starting from today, quad-socket x86 servers are officially dead. Possibly, we will see a resurrection of this segment when (early next year?) Beckton comes to market. Or, may be, it would be too little to late. Anyway as it stays now, anybody who buys 4S x86 just proves that he has no clue.
