Hi David,

You are comparing:
intel Xeon E5472 3.0Ghz Harpertown

with

intel Xeon X5570 2.93Ghz Nehalem

a) there is faster core2 based Xeons, namely 3.2Ghz QX9775
and even i've seen them 3.4Ghz (not sure whether that was
overclocked).

b) entire test you compare the oldie lower clocked Xeon (as it doesn't use Knightriders turbo boost), yet in your conclusion you write:

"Nehalem will pull ahead of Shanghai by a fair margin in terms of performance for almost any workload"

Whether i agree or disagree with that is not relevant.

Point is: where in your comparision does that get reflected, you only compare 2 intel cpu's with each other, not AMD with Intel.

How can you draw a conclusion about Shanghai, you haven't even compared it head on with Nehalem yourself.
