Even since I started learning about GPUs, I had been curious why NV was pushing GPGPU, but didn't seem to have ECC. For example, one of the applications they were touting was OPC for mask design, which got a 100X or more speed up. That seemed fine and good, but without ECC, I'd be a little leery of taping out that sucker. It just was a very strange combination.
A while ago I came to the conclusion that Nvidia will almost certainly include ECC support in their next GPU. I put together a short article outlining why I believe this is the case, and just posted it online.

As always other people's thoughts and opinions are welcome. I'm hoping in the near future, we'll finish up our redesigned UI for RWT, which will enable more frequent publication of short articles like this...after all, it isn't all that common that new microarchitectures meriting a 10 page article come out.
