Bandwidth Utilization

When running the Winbench disk test you get a nice graph to look at, I found these very interesting:

Promise-RAID-fig1.gif - 30275 Bytes
WD 200BB Single drive on a VIA 686B
Promise-RAID-fig2.gif - 39033 Bytes
WD 200BB RAID 0 A/V
Promise-RAID-fig3.gif - 44029 Bytes
WD 200BB RAID 1

Notice the top standard VIA IDE port test produces a nice flat line. The RAID 0 varies from the low 40MB/s to the high 60MB/s, but even at the lowest point its through put is better than a non-RAID 0 drive, and at the high point it is just about double. Then there is the RAID 1 with a big dip from the low 30MB/s to about 15MB/s, and then back to the 30’s.
